The title "Salvation Navy" has been used for many different types of groups since and during the life time of General William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army. There is evidence that Gen. Booth approved of that title for some naval related work.

We will give you some information about what our little down home and humble Mission was like. To begin with..... we were not involved in charity handouts and we did not ask for any donations. We were completely self funded and VERY independent. Also, while we greatly admired General Booth's great poverty work, we were not involved in the fundamentalist style of Booth's religious teachings. Consequently, the word "Salvation" in our name had a different meaning than the word as it is used by traditional christian religious groups.
